Introduction

Namaste and welcome to my web site. My name is Jeff Lee. I am a doctoral candidate at Pepperdine University and an Assistant Professor at Azusa Pacific University. Prior to working at Azusa Pacific University, I taught elementary school at Corey Elementary School in Buena Park, CA.

Azusa Pacific University- I am starting my second year of teaching in the School of Education- Teacher Education Department. At APU, in addition to teaching the Math Methods course, the English Language Learner course, Introduction to Assessments and Advance Technology in Education, I am also the Technology Integration Coordinator.

Pepperdine University- I am a first year doctoral student in the Educational Technology program. Fall semester, I have completed coursework in Learning and Design I, Leadership of Human Endeavors in the Institutional Setting, Human Computer Interactions and Information Literacy and Scholarship. Currently, I am taking courses in Learning and Design II, Cultural Dimensions in Globalization Management and Transforming Organizations in a Global Community.

National University- I was an adjunct faculty member in the Masters in Educational Technology program since 2000. I have also taught the following courses: EDT 600, 620, 615, 620, 630 and 655.

Corey Elementary School- I have been a fifth grade teacher since 1997 in Buena Park, CA. In addition to teaching, I am also the school Technology Coordinator and the district GATE Coordinator, specifically overseeing the distance learning component.

My interests are education, technology and rural development. I am currently working on a project with a local NGO (Non-Government Orgainzation) in Nepal called TMUC (Tulasi Meher UNESCO Club). The project is called the YMRC (Youth Managed Resource Center).

Research Interests-

1) I am interested in studying the system of youth managed resource centers in Nepal through the lens of Activity Theory, specifically tensions within the system between: tools, rules, community and division of labor. Moreover, I am interested in the attempts youth have made thus far at lessening these tensions.

2) I am also interested in cultural competency in schools in Nepal. I would like to investigate how teachers in Nepal are embracing western cultures, especially as technology penetrates the mystical land of Nepal, and how teachers are balancing traditional culture.
